The J-PARC Center, which is collaboratively operated by Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), invites nominations for the next Director whose term will start on April 1, 2012.
The nominee should be a person of high integrity, having insights into education and research, and deep understanding in a wide range of science fields. The nominee also must meet the following qualifications.
1) The candidate must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent), and be a distinguished scientist in the fields of nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, materials science and engineering, or life sciences.
2) The candidate also must have an administrative ability in order to promote the J-PARC Center as a global center of excellence.
The term of the Director is three years, which can be extended up to six years when re-elected. The Director must be under 63 years old when the first term starts. The term of the next Director is expected to start on April 1st, 2012, but it could be able to be postponed.
